Thank you, I am sticking to silkies right now. I have 29 eggs in my incubator. I am not sure how many will hatch but I will most likely be parting with some if you are interested in more silkies.

This is a mixed batch and I planned to keep only blue, black and splash. I have a few buff and white eggs that I don't think I can keep if they hatch out since I only have one run and don't want to mix.

Just found out from the state lab my birds have Marek's Disease. Do any of the breeders vaccinate for this? I have bought most of mine from the swaps and I'm wondering if any of them will be safe from getting it? I lost 3 that were bought at a private farm and then 1 that I got a the swaps. I am hoping that maybe some of them will make it. Thanks for any info or help! Advice on this disease is welcome too! I am still a newbie and learning anything I can do to help them I will!

I'm so sorry for your loss.

I sold at the swap last year and my answer would be "it depends". Personally if I order from a hatchery to sell at the swaps I do have the hatchries vaccinate for it. Many of the other venders do not for various reasons. Also if the birds are from our own hatched eggs its very doubtful. The Marek's vaccine needs to be activated and doesn't keep at all. The smallest dose bottles I've seen it in are for 1000 doses. If you hatch 2, or even 1000 birds, once its activated that's it. You've got to get a new bottle for the next batch. Studies have shown that even when vaccinated 5% can get it.
