my girl with eggs is doing great. I should be able to candle pretty soon. the showgirls have been laying up a storm this week. I am considering firing up the bator for their eggs. If I do I would be hoping that someone goes broody in the next 3 weeks for they can finish the job for me.

I locked down last night on 39 eggs. Lav. & BBS Orps, BBS Marans, Wheaten Marans, & FBCM...yipeee

please don't let the power go out.

I am also hoping for the power to stay on! I got a lesson on how to run our generator...I have 2 bator running and i will not see Charlie for days now....

I know the feeling. Greg has to show me how to run the generator again every winter. my parents live across the street and have a generator that goes on automatically. it runs on propane. If I had bator eggs I think I would run them across the street just in case. I am pretty sure that my mom on eggs will not lose power.

I know the feeling. Greg has to show me how to run the generator again every winter. my parents live across the street and have a generator that goes on automatically. it runs on propane. If I had bator eggs I think I would run them across the street just in case. I am pretty sure that my mom on eggs will not lose power.

the buns are starting to peek out of the nest box. anything I should know? 1 started to nibble on pellets. Is that ok?

If you have a solid bottom nest box you will want to pick a warm day when you can take everyone out of it. Take the clean fluff out and save it to put back in. Clean out the cottom of the next box and put in new hay or shavings or what ever you have used up until now.

I do this when their eyes are all open and they are really starting to mov around. They used the nest box for a litter box for those first couple/few weeks...this can get really bad in the warm weather

The other thing is I double check all the nooks and cranies in my pen. make sure there are not any small gaps they can get into and not get out - like if the nest box gets slid over and someone wedges themselves in between.

Greg made this box for me

I lined the bottom with cardboard. they are in a solid bottom cage. last night I lifted out the box and cleaned under it. I felt around the inside and it seemed dry.

Hey Greg...TSC went to my city counsel for the third time in a year. They have approval to build TS in MY TOWN!!! Wooohoooo!! Ground breaking scheduled for MAY. Can you say LOCAL chicken swap...WOOO HOOOO. WHo's happy with that - me !!
