Hi everyone,
Just want to say Happy Holidays to everyone!
Things are going great with the chickens I bought from Cheryl and Greg earlier in May of this year. We are enjoying our unseasonably mild winter thus far.
The two new birds I've added to the established flock are finally settling in. They do spend most of their day inside the coop still although the squabbles have settled down somewhat. You can't tell the newbies that thou all they have do is see the big girls coming in the coop and they run for cover even thou half the time they aren't even interested in them anymore.
It's pretty comical actually!
Janet the little black pullet I bought from you in September is amazingly agile. She can flit around like no tomorrow to avoid the standards. I have no concerns about that one getting backed into a corner. I didn't add them in till November thou as I wanted to grow them out a bit.
Even the white silkie I bought from Kate is learning. She has her buddy to help her out. The silkie jumps up to the top of the ramps from a stand still and even gets up on the highest roosting shelf about three feet off the ground. I'm glad I got them together to keep each other company. They are still like their own little flock of two but it will all workout the bullying from the big girls is tapering off.
BTW can I show you my fabulous find at my local walgreens...
Chicken holiday lights...
I just noticed someone in the other neighborhood has full size pig lights with santa hats...how fun...it's like Christmas down on the farm!
