Anyone interested in a sweet 10 Month old black and white Call Drake? free to a good home where he won't be kept in a small cage. He free ranges and swims in the pond during the day and goes in the barn at night. Local pick up in Hudson NH

today I let one of my girls come out to" help" me work in the yard. I am amazed at how many gross things she found to eat and how quickly she found them. she was moving leaves away from the buildings. I got down on the ground to watch. worms, slugs, beetles, centipedes, yuck. also red buds from maple trees. it was fun to watch her. she was so busy and was her crop ever full when I put her away.
my girls don't free range. I am a very protective mother hen. they have a dog kennel with a roof and plywood burried in the ground so nobody can tunnel under. the girl I had out today is like a puppy. she comes when I call her and pretty much stays close to me.

Joanna,
here are a few pictures for you. this is my sizzle roo. he is with a white sultan hen. I have a bunch of eggs in the bator from them and fertility looks great. I hatched 1 egg under a hen last week from these 2. it is solid white and looks like it might frizzle.

Thank you SO much! I am so excited. I love that they're mad-scientist crosses, too.

I hope to get to a few swaps this yr

I love my roos too. I have more than I need but they are so pretty and I love to watch them call the girls for food.

the rooster roundup is fairly new for us. we have no set time frame as to when we will have another one.
It sort of depends on how often we hear "I have a rooster that I don't want and I don't know what to do with it."
The rooman will not take babies, they have to be half grown. I am not positive but I don't think he will take silkies.

We are as always a work in progress. each year department of agriculture rules change as well as market conditions. everything is subject to change. it is good that you ask questions. quite often what we did last year or the year before is very different from the way things are done now. but isn't that true of everything in life. I still remember when gas was thirty cents a gallon. now an egg salad sandwich at a gas station costs four dollars.
