Hi friends, I am a new chicken mom here. I have 6 of 3 months old chickens, one red sex link chicken had a swollen face 2 weeks ago on the right side, and it got better after a few days then worse again, the second picture was taken at the beginning, it's not much difference now. Then 2 days ago another sex link had swollen face on the left side( shown in the first picture). Both are perfectly normal otherwise, the other chickens are also good. I thought the first one was from insect bite because they free range in my backyard everyday for a couple of hours, but I got very nervous when the second one happened, especially after searching the web and found out it could be mycoplasma. I also have a rooster that I have to rehome soon, no one would take him if other chickens in the flock have been infected. Anyone has experience with swollen face? I have got VetRx, Benadryl, antibiotics ointment, and ordered denagard just in case. What should I do? Thank you in advance for any information!

Can you see any bubbles or foam in either eye, nasal drainage or swallowing of mucus? Have you added any new birds recently? Mycoplasma gallisepticum can cause the swelling, but usually bubbles in the eye. Conjunctivitis is also common in MG. What is your location? You could try one dose of Benadryl if you see a sting mark on the skin. Dosage is very small, 2-4 mg for each 2.2 pounds. A tablet is 25 mg, so I might skip the benadryl for such a young bird. Cannyou try to get Tylosin online and use 1 tsp per gallon of water for 5 days? Treat only the 2 with eyelid swelling in a dog crate during the day. They can roost with the others at night. Okay, just reread that you have Denagard. It can be nasty tasting and bitter, so maybe sweeten the water a bit. Here is where to get Tylosin:

Thank you so much for your detailed reply. There are no bubbles in their eyes or any other symptoms at all, which is a good sign. I didn't add new birds either. I read that mycoplasma symptoms could be very mild, sometimes only face swelling without other symptoms, but I don't know how often it happens.
I tried to feed the 2 chicken crushed benadryl pill mixed in food in a small container today, but they are not interested at all. The denagard will be delivered in 2 days, will try it if they are not getting any better.
Should I take them to see vets now or wait and see? I have a tight budget recently, but I'm willing to spend the money to save them if it's necessary, plus I have to confirm it's not contagious before giving my rooster away.
