HELLO,RECENTLY I rescued a melnurished serma hen she was abused. She has trouble breathing and always wisping. WHen she breath the a scarch noise to it.Today i pick her up and a mystrious fluid came out.What is it?How can I help this poor hen?It would be better if theres a natural way because I live in asia and we dont have feed store for medication for poultry.Thaks
She may have sour crop which can result from impacted crop from getting long grasses stuck in the crop and then decaying. It also can result from a fungal or baterial infection in the digestive system. Other illnesses may also cause a crop slowdown where it does not function normally. Do you smell a bad odor from the beak? There are many good threads to read especially "impacted and sour crop treatment" by Two Crows if you search at the top of this page. I will send some more links in a bit. In the meantime you can massage the crop, but be careful not to choke her if her crop is overly full since she can vomit. Also encourage her to drink water with electrolytes often to help flush the crop. What other symptoms are you seeing-- does she have diarrhea or other problems?
