Chicken tidbitting at owner

Callender girl::) Okay, steer clear of roosters.:)
I would if you don't need one.
Yes I've had jerk Cochin males but also Silkie males, D'Uccle males etc.
Idk maybe being small they think they have something to prove but I've had worse luck with bantam roosters then I've ever had with LF roosters.

How are d'Uccles in your experience? I'm from the Netherlands, it's easy to get them here. They look funny, that's a plus.

Thank you, it's sort of automatic for me, I'm afraid. Still in doubt if I want chickens again. Maybe a different breed? Can you recommend any docile, sweet breeds? I know there's plenty of suggestions out there, but not everyone agrees:)
Easter Eggers (might not be lovey-dovey, but very good-natured.) Buff Orpingtons. Specked Sussex.

- basically, my current flock, minus the barred rock, who is a complete nutball. (That’s her in my avi picture.)

kattabelly: Do you have bantam Sussex and if so, would you recommend them?

I have no experience with bantams, sorry.

@fuzzi has bantam Speckled Sussex, I think.
I do. And I really enjoy them. Most of mine are very friendly, some are "chatty". I've had four roosters so far, and only one was a jerk.

Zaccheus is a good roo, takes care of his gals. The SS get more white tips with each molt. Hannah, on the right, will be 3 in February.

They look great! What's their lifespan, on average?
So far I lost Joel at 13 months (seizure) and I found Martha dead under the roost at 2. Hannah and Rahab will be 3 in February, they're my oldest.

I don't know their average lifespan, but as they're not a production breed, should be longer.
