Chicken toes...

Just wondering, anyone know why chickens need to try to walk under you instead of beside you? I feel bad for stepping on their toes once in a while but otherwise I feel kinda flattered that they want to be near me.

You can go ahead and feel flattered the chickens are underfoot because they wish to be near you, but it would probably be closer to the reality of chicken behavior that you are disturbing the ground and they know instinctively that something edible may turn up.
