Chicken too hot?!

Today I went into the coop to find my Ameraucana holding Her wings out and holding her mouth open. I looked at the others and there were 2 holding their mouths open also, and another just holding her wings out. I have ventilation in the coop, but it was around 83 outside. Does this sound like they were too hot or should I be worried it might be something else?

Yeah they are just hot. My RIRs do it all the time. I live in Oklahoma and the temperature yesterday was 98 with a heat index of 113. Just make sure they have plenty of cool water. I try to replace their water everyday when I get home from work.

Yeah my chickens do that too when its hot. We spray down their coop with the hose in their favorite dust bathing spots so they can cool down there. We also fill up a bowl with vegetables and water and freeze it. Then they peck at the ice to get to the food and that cools them down. We also put ice in their water so that it stays cold.
