I'm wanting some help with logistics. I don't have the perfect set up. I have a very nice coop for my 11 hens with a nice long run although I think they might be a bit crowded. The run is just dirt, no grass anymore.

I fashioned a chicken tractor out of 2 dog crates put together on wheels. I am going to put a couple of nesting boxes in there as well. I'm hoping to roll it around so they will have access to fresh grass, bugs, ect. I've lost a lot of mine in the past to predators.

My question is this, will the hens lay eggs in the chicken tractor? Right now I have it rigged that they have access to their coop. My intention is to move it further away and close it off completely. I would just let them hang out during the daytime and get them back in their coop at night. I'll probably lure them with treats. Is this going to work? I don't want them in there overnight. I'll put food, and water and also maybe a tarp on top for shade.

Need help and ideas please! :) Thanks
