Hi, I have an idea for setting up something in a new run i am planning and would like some feedback on it. Both positive and negative appreciated.
I plan to build a shed next year. One half will be for rabbits the other half for poultry. Also plan to put a decent size run in front of it. Maybe 12' by 20'.
I know from experience that in short time the poultry will kill off the grass but I thought about making an approximately 4'x8' box with hardware cloth top and sides and an open bottom. Idea is to put that in one corner of the run allowing grass to grow there and moving it every so often to reclaim some grass. Sort of like a chicken tractor in reverse. Anyone ever try doing this? Do you think it would work?

I think that's a great idea

I have window boxes that are 8" wide X 12" deep and X 4' long with hardware cloth over them and planted with grass, alfalfa, barley and herbs and other greens. The plant grows thru the cloth wire and the chicks eat it.
