From a design from Backwoods or one of the homesteading mags..
The old "winter" pens. Bordering the woods - lost many birds to digging varmints, mink, etc.

Here's the new place, freshly moved from a wet area (not usually a wet area but it has been a monsoon here...

1 week of busy digging chickens can do this..

Here's the wire makeup - cattle fence covered in chicken wire.

Safe and sound! The dog keeps the critters away.

Anyway, working so far. Easy to move with my lawn tractor and built in 4 hours by 2 doctors who are far from handy.

Bonus question - who can name this make of car! My spring resto project.

I really like that, wouldn't work good as a tractor for me but I might build one for some peacocks I might be getting. How many cattle panels did it use and what are the base dimensions?

The base is made of 6 - 2x6x10's so it is 20' long, 10' wide. The cattle panels are 52" (or so) x 16 feet. The corners and sides are reinforced with whatever wood I could find lying around and everyting is assembled using decking screws. All told it cost a little under $500 in parts. It should last at least a few seasons - long enough to build the "master plan" pen which aims to be huge.

There was a broad winged hawk perched on one end of this about a week ago. The chickens were right under her scratching around like nothing was going on. Chickens at times are no the brightest fowl....

Oh - to drag it iI have a couple of wheelbarrow tires and 5/8" bolts that go on the "metal" end and then I lift the other end with some ratchet straps attatched to my 3pt hitch on the Kubota above. Tow it nice and slow and the chickens walk right along with scratching and picking all the way. They seem to get excited now when I move it (in a good way).

Anyway, hope everyone is having a fine day
A bit suprised my friend Seramaman hasn't opined in to make fun of my remedial carpentry work!
