Chicken tractors

Really I was going to use this whole part of the structure for a coop with roosts and that ledge is where the nesting boxes are it fits 3 I can only have 5 chickens I have 4 So I'm sure I'll only have 2 20200505_182431~2.jpg . And mini run and attach a long run.

You'd need to build up that shorter portion to be as tall as the taller part, because there's not enough head room to add roosts at all. Roosts should be higher than nests. Or am I misunderstanding the layout you described?

How large is this entire unit?

Also confused on numbers... coop fits 3 but you have 4 chickens, or 2?

here are some inexpensive, pretty easy to build tractors that I've put together here in NC that will work in your area.

using CP that is 50" tall, 2x4 wire (have 1/2" hardware cloth for the new ones making for chicks). Not difficult to move - even w/o wheels. I currently put the feed on the ground - what they don't consume, the free ranging flock of bantams does. The general size is 5x8'. They do have 2 gates - may not be needed depending on how you build. I don't have nest boxes attached yet - have the wood to build out a frame for plastic milk crates - one per tractor. Want to swap out the open buckets for a closed bucket with horizontal nipples - haven't gotten that far yet. If do a feeder - probably do one that hangs with the pvc elbows and a cover that will keep rain from getting into the feeder.

Not sure you understand the design I was following one from you tube but I changed it all around today ..

I raise 300 meat birds per year in low pasture pens similar to the one you have pictured. In my experience layers do not like low "chicken tractors" or very enclosed spaces in general. Your pen looks like it would be fine for 5 or 10 broilers moved daily or twice daily, but I think layers need more space to roam around than that.

We understand the design, trying to tell you it needs to be bigger.
So asking for clarity about number of birds and dimensions of tractor.
Sorry guys but again following a design being used by other people for more chickens then I'll ever have. Its bigger then most pre fab ones on the market .I was just asking if anyone had ideas but I've already worked it out... Thank you for the info. I have 4 chickens
