What do you do when you take your 2 1/2 y.o. nephew for a nature walk and he hands me every pine cone he finds with a smile. You make chicken treats!
1/2 cup coconut oil
3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
1 cup meal worms
1 cup black oil sunflower seeds
2 cups parekeet food (Can use other small seeds ie. Millet)
Melt coconut oil, add in peanut butter stir till smooth. Stir in all other ingredients. The mix will be a bit loose but will spread on the pinecones. Tie jute to top of cone spread with mix place in fridge or freezer to set. Store in a cool place. Only a winter treat due to the Coconut oil low melting point. I hang mine from the roof of the run enclosure to keep them busy if they can't get outside.
