My chicks got the Mareks vac as day olds. Do you booster that or is it just a one time thing?

Mericks is a one time thing. I am not aware of any chicken booster shots.


As for exposing them to the soil, I let them play in the dirt at a few weeks old. The sooner they get exposed the better. Like getting chicken pox. Get it young, not so bad, get it when your 25, good luck.

My chicks are on their way! They were given Marek's at the hatchery. Should I feed them medicated feed?

I bought 3 chicks from a local feed that said that all chicks that came from a hatchery were vaccinated in the egg is that true?

My definition of organic wouldn't include vax either, even if some rule some where does

I opted not to get them. The hatchery didn't even recommend them for a backyard flock, which is what we have.

Does a Vet have to administer the Mareks vaccine or is it something I can buy?

You can buy it. You'll want one person to hold the bird for you, unless you're one of those old country vets that seem to sprout an extra hand when they need it.
