My one year old golden comet Dixie, always had a small calcium deficiency, and she is a larger hen.
She has access to oyster shell, and I give my hens booster vitamin once a week to all my hens in their waterer.
Yesterday, I found a blown out soft shell egg and couldn’t figure out who laid it. Also, Dixie and another hen had impacted crops. I have treated many impacted crops, so I did what I usually do to remedy the crops.
Today I found a complete soft shell egg, all my hens were acting normally. Dixie still had a very small crop impaction, while the other hen was completely cured.
Then, only a few hours later, my hen Dixie was standing still, looking congested, and with a big sagging red thing hanging out of her vent!
I would push it back in with Vaseline, but, she would push (like laying an egg or defecating) and the big red thing would pop back out and swell up. Like it was filling with poo or something... I also gave her a bit of a crushed tum, mixed with water, and a bit of the nutrid
I’ve pushed the red thing back in, probably 5 times, and now she’s walking around fine and is eating, squawking, and even ran a bit when I called. Oh and she defected on her own, without the red thing popping out! The poo was only as big as a dime or nickel, and liquidy, but she her red thing didn’t come out. .... I know she still has a problem, but I’m not sure what to do!
So, I’ve come to the chicken headquarters of the world, for help to save my hen Dixie
P.S. I will try to get a pick of the red thing, if it pops out
