CHICKEN VENT SWOLLEN HELP

She is pooping normally. She's also acting completely normal. The poop stuck to her butt was healthy poop it was just that she was sitting in it. She won't touch the ground with her left foot at all. I think her thigh is hurting because I squish her foot up to her thigh and when I touch her thigh is when she moves. She is currently perching on the side of a soft dog bed. She has her left leg under her and her tail is down like her vent hurts but she isn't sitting like a penguin as if she were eggbound. Every time I offer her water she drinks it and same for foos (especially bread). She also "licks the inside of her mouth" I'm not sure what to call it but she looks like she is trying to deal with a dry mouth.

I'm also treating my chicken with oxytetracycline (Doxycycline & neomycin) for respiratory issue ..like everyone say if 1 affected treat all I give this medication water to my second chicken who don't have any issue and after the treatment of 2 days he seems to be less on appetite I posted thread also yesterday

And these are sensitive antibiotics surely dehydrate mouth just like we humans get some side effects of antibiotics ..like dryness of mouth and lack of appetite maybe that happen with chickens also

Do you know what could be wrong with her leg? She won't move it at all or walk on it.

I just soaked her in a warm Epsom salt bath. She didn't seem to mind it that much but she really wants to get up and move on her own. I'm going to get some vitamin d and calcium tablets for her also. Because this could be a vitamin deficiency

Update: I bought some nutri drench for her just in case she had a vitamin deficiency. Today was her first dose and she's looking A LOT better. She's able to stand on her own even though it's not on her left foot. Her butt is looking better in my opinion. So with all that being said, I think it was a reapiratpry infection and a vitamim deficiency. Just in case you're having this problem, this is what I'm doing.

Respiratory infection:
- 1 1/2 tbsp of duramycin in a gallon of water until her symptoms are gone plus a few days.
- a dab of terramycin eye ointment in and around the eye a couple times a day

Leg paralysis:
- poultry nutri drench - 1ml per 3lb once a day for a week (they might have diarrhea from this so don't worry)

I got the nutri drench for 7.99 at tractor supply and it has all the vitamins they should need. I hope this helps if any of you ever have this problem also.

Good to hear she's responding to the vitamin therapy. Keep that up!

Antibiotics tend to destroy the natural flora in the intestines. This could set things up for yeast to colonize the tract and it could make the vent tissue irritated. Giving yogurt or acidophilus probiotic will help. I would offer her some fresh, raw squash or grated cabbage to help with the dry mouth. Avoid fruits as they have sugars that would feed the yeast.
