I have two Rhode Island Reds. They both seemed perfectly healthy yesterday except I just discovered that one has worms because she pooped when I was giving her a bath and I saw roundworms. The other probably has them but I didn't see them in her feces. I just got them both Wazine 17. Well, the chicken who I found the worms in the feces was perfectly healthy and fine when I put her to bed last night but when I went to wake them up, she was laying on the floor of her cage, breathing very heavily, (Her mouth is open and I can hear her breathing,) and very limp. Her eyes are very runny and feels very hot. I'm trying to bottle feed her Pedialyte. She just swallowed one sip but that's it. I don't know if it's the worms or what I should do! Help!

i would look for anything else such as bugs in the house or if you have spiders or snakes it seams weird for a hen to go down so quickly, is she skinny?

No, they are only about 11 months or 1 year. She is not skinny and has been eating a lot lately, but that's probably the worms. We just went and got her Duramyclin-10 and mixed it with Pedialyte/water. She is burning up and can barely hold her head up. They live in the backyard in a coop during the day and at night they go in the garage in a large dog carrier. There are a lot of flys in the backyard but there's no snakes or anything like that. There's not vet anywhere around here for her. I just don't know what it could be.

You need to tell me more about condition. How is Poop? Could they have had any spoiled feed, maybe got wet. Did they over heat? If it's heat related cool the body down slowly wet only the bottom half of the birds. Try to give them pedialyte with a syringe slowly as not to aspirate the lungs. If you have a small animal vet they can help.

The only thing that we have done diffferently to care for them is we gave them a bath yesterday. And they didn't over heat. It was only in the low 80s yesterday. Her poop is green because I give her a lot of vegetables, however she had two worms in her feces yesterday. She isn't thin. I just don't understand. I put her back in her carrier last night and she was flapping around and when I went to get her today she was laying on the floor with laboured breathing. I did also spray Poultry Protector in the cage for any lice that we thought we saw on her and I cleaned out the bedding. I also didn't give her any water last night because the wormer said to hold it so in the moring she'd drink it more than she would if she'd had water. I did give her canteloupe, strawberries, some greens, and of course their grains. So she could have gotten some fluids from the fruit. I have been giving her pedialyte and water mixed with Duramycin-10 with a little kitten bottle. She just feels VERY hot and her eyes are closed and she is very limp and her mouth is gaping with labored/loud breathing.

I bathed her using a tub with water with Ivory soap, making sure to not get any in her face. Then the second tub was plain water to rinse and the third tub was vinegar and glycerin to give her the shine for her poultry show, (which of course she isn't going to go to now.) Do you think she could have gotten chilled with the bath because the did shiver a little when I got her out but I wrapped her in a towel and dried her off?

Hows the other chicken?
Feel her crop? Could it be sour crop?
I hope she pulls through

The other chicken seems fine. I am still going to treat her with Wazine 17 in case she has worms, too. Tiana's crop (the sick one) feels and looks normal and her breath doesn't smell bad. It was a little hard to check, however, because she can't stand up on her own, poor thing. She is very weak and she just feels blazing hot. She is somewhat resisting to drink her medication/pedialyte/water mixture but every now and then she'll take a sip.

I hope she pulls through, I just really don't know what you could do. Just make sure she drinks even if it's only sips it's better than nothing. Has she been laying recently?
