Chicken Very Sick! HELP!!

maybe you should put her somewhere cold to try and bring her temperature down, i cant say i have ever had this problem however as the other hen is fine it is very unusual, i would leave her alone in the dog house to give her privacy so she isnt scared, maybe the bath was upsetting for her but i couldnt imagine so. hope it all goes well =/ sorry i cant be of any more help x

Thanks. And no, she hasn't been laying, but I figured it is because Doris, the healthy one, is molting and Tiana has worms or, if Doris has them, a more severe case than her. Or maybe Tiana is going through a softer molt than Doris. I'm holding Tiana right now and it seems like her breathing has slowed but I don't know if this is good because her head has gotten even more limp. One of them layed one egg about a week or so ago but that's it.

Do they have mites? Check the back of their necks and under their wings, It can make them very weak

i would put her somewhere she feels safe to stop any stress, i know this is upsetting kills me when a hen is sick :(

A fever usually means an infection of some sort, at least that is what I have read. Maybe try some antibiotics. Keep her on fluids and make sure to keep her cool. Not too cold though or it might put her into shock. Keep her in a dark quiet place too where she wont get any outside stimulation. I would almost suggest keeping her wings raised slightly to let air flow over her skin to help cool her.

She may have ingested some soap or might have a problem with the wormer. If there is a vet you can call I would do so immediately.

Good luck! Keep us posted! We will be cheering for you!

She did have mites. I found them on her yesterday. That's why I cleaned out her coops completely and sprayed it with Poultry Protector. It seems like she is getting worse as I am holding her. Her eyes are *barely* opening anymore and she has gotten very limp. When I get up and walk around with her she kind of wakes up but then closes her eyes again. I don't know how to lower her tempereature any better. I can feel her body heat through the towel that I have underneath her and when I press my hand against her she is boiling. I feel horrible :( I just don't know what could have caused her to go so far downhill overnight.

If she is that bad, and you think she might be going down, it might be mercy to let her go.

On the other hand, get on google and start googling. Typing in fever on this search engine only gets chicken fever lovins, not much about actual sick hens.

She may have picked up something from the mites, worms or anything else. I would get a damp cloth and start wiping her down, the evaporation might help cool her off. Ill start searching and see what i come up with.

Thanks Reurra. There's really no vet for chickens that I can take her to around here. the closest one is nearly two states away.I do have her on Duramycin-10 mixed with pedialyte and water, which is an antibiotic. And what confuses me is, if it is a reaction to the mite spray, why is Doris fine? And what do you do if it is a reaction to the mite spray?
