Hi guys,
I have 10 mixed red hens ( I think a couple turned out to be roosters but not totally sure yet as they are still fairly young ) and one of them is walking very odd. She is walking like a duck with her tail down and she stays close to the ground. She has been doing this for almost a week. I have researched and researched but I'm having no luck figuring it out. We got them the 3rd week of March and they said they had them for two weeks.
I have looked and felt around for a binded egg but have had no luck finding anything that points to that. She still is eating and drinking fine and still comes out of the coop and even into the yard when I let them out. However, she of course can't keep up with the other chickens and winds up usually laying under a tree pecking at grass etc. I feed egg layer food now and just recently moved to that about 2-3 weeks ago. I also feed fresh veggies from our organic garden ( chicken approved of course ) almost daily and they have time out of the pen almost daily as well to feed on insects etc. I do not treat my yard and have a very large fenced in area that they run around in which they haven't yet flown over the fence.
Any advice that you can offer would be appreciated. Thanks.
