My roo Foggy started stumbling around like he was drunk. Then he couldn't stand at all. The hens were pecking him (it was sad). I have read about this several times, but no one knew what to do. Well, this is what I did. I put my roo in a sturdy box with fresh bedding and hand fed and watered him three times a day (he still was eating and drinking fine) and cleaned the box out once a day. I would pick him up and have him stand (with my help) for a few minutes every time. The hens would hop into the box with him to sleep at night (sometimes they layed eggs there). Anyway, in about 1-1/2 weeks, he started being able to stand if he used the side of the box. So, I put his water so that he would have to stand to drink. It was a lot of work and TLC (my husband wanted to put him down!). Eventually, in three weeks, he hopped out of the box himself and since has been fine! I think he landed wrong jumping off the roost and injured his legs. I think this because he won't fly up to the roost anymore. But, with some TLC and physical therapy he came back.

I had a simular situation about 2 months ago with my rooster. I almost put him down 3 different times, hated to. So, he was in the house as mine would have siezures, or flip and flop around. I contacted the state fella and was told that it was a inner ear infection. Treated that and he came out of it. Then right on top of it, he was siezing still, not acting drunk, and if I hadn't had the time for him, he would have died. He would eat and drink, yet only clear fluid for 'droppings', no sign that he had eaten anything, and he was eating like a pig! Finally I went to give him the last hoorah before I put him down the next morning and I had been giving him Vit B, electrolytes and different antibiotic and then nailed him with some Ivermectin, only enough for a small bantam as he was only 18 weeks old. I figured he would be dead with all that...he crowed! Imagine, he had normal feces, clear eyes and stood tall.
So when you figure out what it could have been, let me know! No other bird did any of this, never even coughed. Glad your boy is doing well and keep in mind, drunk bird either is, or ear infection!
