Less than one year old barred rock hen. On Tuesday my silkie terrier dog got into the field . I caught him picking her relatively early. Plucked a patch about 3"X3". Chicken went into shock ,and we kept her overnight in the house. We put anti-bac cream on the area. Put her back with the flock Wednesday evening . She's eating and drinking but her poop is runny. She isn't venturing out very far with the other girls, just stays in the goat or chicken pen. I looked at her today, and the plucked spot looks like it has a white scab over it. Is this normal? I've never owned chickens before.

Welcome to BYC. Pictures of her or her poops can be helpful. It sounds like that little rooster is pretty ornery . Most barred rock hens I have had could stomp a silkie rooster. I would keep an eye on her just in case something else is going on with her. It could be possible that she was getting sick when this attack happened.

Did you witness the attack, or could there have been a hawk around, and he was protecting her?

I would offer some cooked egg or bits of tuna, and some wet chicken feed which most chickens love.

Thank you for the reply. It was actually my silkie dog (similar to a Yorkie, but larger) who got to her. He must have been chasing them around the field. I think I got to her about the time she finally ran out of energy, and the dog was able to pin her down. I will have to try the tuna. That way the goats won't try to eat it
