Chicken waste for compost question

You can cover those beds with clear plastic to warm the soil up. Check out planting under plastic tunnels.
I usually do throw some plastic down after I till. I have yet to use tunnels to start planting earlier, but I'm really just starting to seriously get into the gardening. This is the first year I'm starting plants indoors, rather than direct sowing, or buying started veggies.

That saves a lot of money. Check out the Old Farmers Almanac website. Lots of good resources available. Look at the companion planning chart. You might find it interesting.

Yeah it's strange weather here right now!

I like it though. The chickens do too

We’ve had it pretty good so far but it’s supposed to start snowing and drop into the teens next week! :hit Just when I get Christmas packed up and can see spring bulbs showing, then we get a winter blast. It happened last year too. We’re on an island in Puget Sound. So much for maritime weather. :gig
wow - spring bulbs! We've got at least 3 month until a crocus pops through the snow!

Yeah the snowdrops and little ones like that a re starting to grow.
I'd say I'm jealous but the truth is I love snow and winter. The nastier the better. I know... I need help. And my wife doesn't agree - so we'll see where we end up when she retires. Possibly smokey mtns (I can give up heavy snow, but I can't give up being in the mtns!)

When it snows here it’sa real mess. Very hilly and twisting roads. It’s lovely to look at like maybe on a Sunday morning, not so much fun to try to get to work in. Most of the winter it’s chilly and terribly dreary. Soul crushing dreary!
