Chicken water filthy! How can it be a bit more clean?

mine hang . mine will not touch the nipples so I have 2 3 gallon waterers in the pen, and when I let them out to free range at noon until bed time the water is on bricks in the yard. I put the water up on two bricks so its high enough they do not have to crank there necks to get to it. also hang there food, best thing ever !! no mess no fuss.

I have my waterers up on bricks but they are continually getting filled with grass and dirt, what is a nipple waterer and how does it work, what does it look like?

you can go on you tube there are some videos of people using nipple waterers I got mine off the internet from QC supply for a bout a dollar a piece I put 5 of them on the bottom of a 5 gallon bucket. they are threaded on one end and will screw into anything plastic. they are very easy to install
