Chicken whisperers: How can I find my Chicken?

Was there a way that you called your birds? Mine respond to their names, "Chook, Chook, Chook", "Treats" and "to me!" Extremely useful for something trying to get them.

Rattle a can with treats or food pellets in it. They might recognize the sound.

Do you have any other birds left? When Obelisk flew out of the yard, I wound up taking Penny and walking up and down the street and letting her yap away so that Obelisk would know that it was safe for her to come out.

I would suggest you just suck it up and go in, i'm sure your birds life is more important then spiders.

If you do look, I would look in the nooks and cranies, because the chickens usually hide under things or in the corners to try and stay safe.

If you have a chicken alive still out there...or under the house, if you don't find her, another predator might. Is there ANYONE who could come and help you? I get the spider fear...if you honestly can't do it, someone has to. My birdies come running if I walk by because they think I always have treats. Mine love graham crackers as a special treat every now and then. Maybe some graham cracker crumbs and a bowl of chopped romaine would find it's way to her senses...I don't know. I wish I could help you...I'm not afraid of spiders or small spaces as long as I know I can easily get away from both! Best wishes! Keep us posted!

I have put the water and the food out, and nothing. I will try again tomorrow

I will also try bringing the other chickens out with me. They weren't their coop mates, they were new additions, but they were next to them for a week, and it is still worth a try, and it was something I didn't think of.
Which was the point of starting this thread. Thanks spotted crow.

ETA: I will also try rattling a solo cup and their chick starter; that's what I used to scoop their food with.

All I can suggest is to just lay under the trailer till you hear it again, you on one side, hubby on the other and then between the both of you you may be able to zero in on the sound. Are there cap blocks on the top of the cinder blocks? If not the bird could be inside one of the piers.

DH said yes, there are cap blocks .... that is a good idea...thanks nn! We could also take some of the skirting off to shed some more light in there, and try to find her that way. (Duh!) That's a lot of work, but well worth it to find my babies.
