I have a Barred Rock chicken that just will not get out of the nesting box. She dose not lay any eggs but her two sisters lay like crazy they are all last spring's chickens. I pulled her out of the box and brought her inside and she sees happy and healthy. Her tail is up and really triangular compared to the others. I cant find anything wrong with her. It has been very cold but they have light and their water has not frozen so they are all warm.
Any ideas?

Sounds broody to me. I've got one that started that just about 2 weeks ago. Make sure you take her off the nest at least once a day so she can eat and drink. If you want to give her eggs to try and hatch, make sure you mark them. Mine all jump in and lay in the same box my broody is in, so I have to check daily and sometimes pull out 3 or 4 eggs that others have laid. If you mark the ones she can set on, you'll know which ones to leave each day.

Mainly, I'd be sure to pull her gently off the nest and make sure she eats/drinks each day.

Best of luck!

I took her off the nest and put her in the basement she seems VERy happy there. Still no eggs. I dont dare let her set yet because it is still so cold. High of about 25 today.
