My run is made from regular old chicken wire to keep the chickens in safely during the day. What I didn't count on was the fact that one of my seven week old chickens likes to peck at flying bugs outside the run. She got her head stuck in one of the holes that makes up the chicken wire. Luckily I was outside watering the veggies. She was literally screaming in panic. I was able to get her loose but she was very freaked out (me too!)

So, just a heads up folks. We have hardware cloth around the bottom of the run now.

1/2" chickenwire, if you can find it locally, also works well for that purpose; or (if you are ONLY trying to keep chicken heads in, not predators' arms out) you can even just use the flimsy 1/2" plastic netting they sell most places where chickenwire is sold.

Glad your hen is ok,

Pat
