Can chickens eat through a chicken-wire barrier?

I think your attitude towards our furry and feathered friends is great and I whole heartedly agree.
However; no animals live on just chicken food or just chickens. Kick the little buggers out from the food you are paying for and make them find another fast food chain.
Also an electric fence is simply a big muscular bouncer at the door refusing entry to those uninvited.
I agree, and it does seem like electrifying the run would be the most effective way to stop a lot of the critters that seem to think I built this chicken area for their pleasure and entertainment.

But I know nothing about how to do that and it honestly scares the bejeesus out of me! Will I accidentally be shocking myself? Will my dogs get shocked if they get too close (I imagine that would only happen once - they're not stupid). I have a 3 year old granddaughter here twice a week - simply turn it off when she's here?

And what's this I read about having to keep the greenery and grass clipped at the bottom for it to work? The run is a 10' x 10' TSC run so I would want to add something that electrifies the entire existing run, correct? Someone educate me please, while I try resesarching it on my own. The few articles I've found make it sound so simple but most of it is still going right over my head. Grounding stakes????

I suggest you skip the electrifying, especially with small children present at times.
YOU MAY FORGET TO TURN OFF
