Chicken wire or netting

I'm getting my coop built this weekend, I need to know what kind of wire or netting should I have for the run?

if you can afford it hardware cloth is the best. i cant , i used chicken wire. plastic netting would be a waste of time

That depends. Will the chickens be closed up in the coop completely at night and is your coop predator proof? If not I would suggest using 1/2" x 1/2" hardware cloth on the run, especially the bottom few feet of it and skirting the run with hardware cloth so predators can't dig under it.

My coop will be closed at night so nothing can get in, but I want the run to be as safe as possible. I checked out the hardware cloth it is a little on the high side for me. I will have to think about it.

Yeah its definitely not cheap. I completely understand how you feel. I just finished wrapping my run with it and it definitely took a big chunk of my budget for my coop and run, but I figured it'll be worth it when my chickens need to be in the run and I can't make it home to close the coop door. Better to be safe than to lose your flock.
