chicken wire

After quickly realizing chicken wire is not strong enough to keep predators out my husband ran what he called hog wire on top of that around the perimeter of our coop and run...it is attached well and gives a second stronger barrier. will this give enough safety? Both wires are dug in about 8-12 inches. Advice appreciated.

Sounds good, but that's only if my 'hog wire' & your hog wire are the same. Hog wire from where I stand is generally 2" x 4" wire. Personally, I prefer hardware cloth (either 1" x 1" or 1/2" x 1"). Set up properly, NOTHING is getting in. Chicken wire is no deterrent, even if it has 4" x 4" wire over it. Rats can get in through that.
Basically what it boils down to is what predators are indigenous to your area. Burying the wire is always a good choice, though!

Is it welded, not woven? What gauge is the wire, and what is the spacing between the wires?

Be aware though that it is not at all uncommon for digging predators (coyotes, foxes, peoples' loose dogs) to dig down more than 8-12" to get under a fence. It is too late to bury wire deeper but you can run an apron around the run if you want (I would, but everyone has their own ideas of risk-tolerance), 2-3' wide and firmly attached to the foot of the run fence and firmly pinned or weighted down or covered with mulch/stone/whatever.
