Chicken with a hole in its back

Did any of you notice the discoloration? It's sort of a light brown instead of brownish pink.

Yes, I wonder if it's "hollow" underneath there and how deep it goes on the sides.
That's my real concern. When I look in it, it does look hollow and weird. Like dried up carcass. Like if I put my finger in the hole, it looks like I could totally pull up the entire layer of skin.

Also, maybe she's always had the hole but it's only noticeable now because it's feathers are all plucked out? I don't know

I found a kitten with maggots in its shoulder, same looking wound as your chick.
Is there a possibility of this same thing in your chick, but the maggots are gone? Or deeper in? I'd listen to everyone else's advice, they've given you awesome tips.

Can you bring her inside and bathe her in warm Epsom salts water, or the earlier mentioned Hibiclens (chlorhexiden) soap and water? If there are maggots inside the hole they hopefully will be flushed out. Take a large syringe or a turkey baster and squirt the medicated water into the wound. Then pack the wound with plain triple antibiotic ointment. Then repeat the bath each day for a couple of days. Tell us how it looks or post more pictures. Make her a little hen saddle to cover her back. They are easily made with a piece of polar fleece by cutting 2 slits for wings.
