We are first time chicken owners. We have 5 RIR hens that are almost 2yrs old. One of our hens, Cinnamon, came out of the run with a limp today. When we let them out to free range, she tripped over a board that’s about 4in high. None of our chickens have EVER had a problem getting over it, so I thought it was weird. It was also weird when she didn’t come running towards me when I first came outside, and instead was making a low chirp of sorts. (She normally screams at us) When free ranging, she was very obviously limping while making the low chirp. We checked the bottom of her feet and they looked good, no bumble or cuts or anything out of the ordinary. She’s still scratching around and acting somewhat normal. But she’s moving around slower and every once in a while has a big limp. We don’t know what to do, and really don’t want a limp taking one of our chickens out. None of our other hens seems to be paying attention to her limp either. She’s top of pecking order, so we’re also trying to avoid fights.
I took a couple videos but it won’t let me add them for some reason.
Any advice or anything helps!! Thank yall!!
