Yesterday I noticed one of my chickens had a limp, so I picked him/her up and checked the bottom of the feet - no black scab, so that's good, I thought. Maybe it'll just clear up on its own. Fast forward to today and the limp is worse, and I think the hock joint on that leg may be starting to swell up. I'll have to try to get pictures tomorrow, but since the difference really isn't that noticeable, I don't think it'll help much. So my little chicken just has a worsening limp, and that's all I really know at this point. He/she can still get around and free range and keep up with the rest of the flock, so it's not really a big issue yet. I'd like to nip it in the bud before it gets worse, though. Does anyone have any idea what this might be, or am I still stuck in the 'wait and see' phase?

Nothing comes to my mind right off based on what you've seen so far, other than maybe Synovitis / Mycoplasma Synovaie or Marek's, but I am not very familiar with exact symptoms & their normal progression, so I don't know if your chicken's symptoms fit or not.

There is info on many leg problems on the Poultry Podiatry page on my www.PoultryPedia.com site, & it might give some help as you are monitoring your chicken's conditions.

I'm glad you've noticed it early & are looking for ways to help. Best wishes with your little one!
