Chicken with abcess

I have a chicken who's just spent a few months being broody. She now has an abcess on her belly that is scabbed over. It looks inflamed and swollen as well. We will take her to the vet tomorrow.

I was wondering if there's any other treatment you can recommend till then.

Aw, Poor Baby!

IF YOU CAN, I would keep her on a soft fabric bedding (such as a clean towel) in a separate cage to keep any bedding particles from irritating it while she is laying down, and change it often. Since you are taking her to the vet tomorrow I don't really recommend any treatment, but you could rinse it with cool water and pat it dry to get rid of any dirt or other nasties on the surface of the wound. You just need to be careful not to let it break open or you risk a more serious infection.
They will likely drain and disinfect the wound at the vet, and prescribe oral or topical antibiotics.
