i had 3 roosters that would chase all the hens around and gang up on them sometimes. on saturday one rooster wouldn't release a feather footed hen which caused the other two to grab at her and try to force him off for their turn but he would lose his grip and fought his way back on. i broke it up seeing they were being overly rough and she ran off and hid for a couple of hours. i saw her walking by me later on and notice some blood on her head so i caught her to check it out and discovered that they not only broke the skin but her brain was exposed:sick. i got some neosporin and dabed some on/in her head and put her in with some younger chicks to recover and after a few days a scab is forming and she is still alive. now the one rooster is another story as he attacked another very aggresivley and i had enough of it. my daughter wanted me to take her hunting so i figured that rooster would be a start, shot gun in hand i chased the rooster into the open portion of the back yard and let her take the shot. it was a good shot that put it down immedietly and i am free of one mean rooster.

I hope she is doing better now.

When roosters start gang breeding and fighting over hens, it is time for some of them to go. You did well. I don't know how many roosters you have, but perhaps your daughter needs some more shooting practice.

X2....mean, but still worthy of making the dinner table. Bird shot is a pain to remove....

she is doing all right for now. i pulled the feathers off and quartered it and fed it raw to my dogs,(yorkies), and my cats had a few bites. i feed my dogs raw chicken every so often so it was a win/win situation. next rooster i get to use the .50 cal black powder rifle:D.
