hello,

Yesterday I noticed that one of my chickens had a bubbly eye and I think it is a respiratory problem, but I don't know how to treat it any ideas?

Thanks

What other symptoms does she have?
She needs to be isolated from the flock. Chances are she needs antibiotics, though this could be a virus, too. Start her on Baytril if you can get it, injectible Tylan 50 or Oxytet are options also. Treat the eye by washing with clean saline...you can use eye wash for people. You can gently coat it with triple antibiotic ointment, or antibiotic eye drops for poultry, there are a few kinds of these, one source is firststatevetsupply.com. You can also try VetRX under the wing. Is she eating, drinking, normal droppings?

I was doing some more research and I don't think it's respiratory anymore I noticed she has mites and she is anemic is there anything I can do for the anemia I put mite powder on today and yesterday.

Thanks

It is probably CRD then, would be my guess. OR it could be just an eye infection. Another good thing to control CRD in your flock is Denagard. With that, you can eat the eggs, there's no withdrawal. You can put it in their water every couple of months, and it acts as a preventative. I like it, though it's expensive, a bottle lasts us a year or so for our flock of 40 &.

Give her avian specific poultry vitamins, and make sure she is eating well. I like Rooster Booster B & K for sick birds. I like to use garden sulfur powder in their dust bath or dusting holes for lice. Wood ash works well too. And I like Insectrin powder when bugs are really bad. You can put it in the bath, too.
