1) What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.) 11 month old ISA Brown. She doesn't seem to weigh less than the others.
2) What is the behavior, exactly. Her chin (not sure if that is the correct term) looks droopy and her eye seems to be out of place.
3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms? I just noticed it today.
4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms? Not that I can see.
5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma. Not that I can see.
6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation. I do not know.
7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all. She drank some water.
8) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc. I haven't seen her poop yet.
9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far? Nothing.
10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet? I need to treat at home.
11) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help. The first pic is of the swollen side and the second is of the normal side and the droopy "chin".
12) Describe the housing/bedding in use. She is in a 12x16 run with twelve other LF pullets of the same age. I have wood stove pellets and dirt in the run and pine shavings in the coop.
