chicken with mouth open

For some reason my hen opens her mouth like she is hot when she goes up to roost. ALmost like she is panting. It isn't hot here at all. Does anyone know what this is all about?

I am curious too, I just noticed my 11 week old Buff Cochin doing the same thing tonight. She got up on the roost and ten minutes later when I came back to spy on them she was panting.

Me too. That is the only time she does it, on the roost at night....hmmmm
