I'm new here! I've had chickens for 2 years now and I do a lot of preventative things for my small flock of 7 bit this is the first time I've had an issue that I'm not finding a real answer about. Maybe y'all can help.

Grace...my "people chicken"...has been showing signs of gleet for at least a week now. I noticed 3 days ago she was lethargic and hanging out in the coup pr under a bush and not hanging out with the rest. She's a loner as it is but I can tell something is wrong.

I brought her in 3 days ago to try to diagnose anything else that might be going on and really assess the situation so here's what's I've done/found.

Breed: Saphire Gem
Almost 2 years old

3 days ago: missing feathers from her bum, muddy butt, lethargic, can barely stand. Ive been reading a ton on google and here to try to figure it out so please forgive me here a bit. I brought her in, gave her bottom half a bath. She was falling over in the bath so i had to hold her up the full 10-15 mins i had her in the water. I reached underneath her and it seems like i did feel an egg in there so I kinda massaged her a bit and kept her in the water all that time just in case she was egg bound. Once I got her out she was still having trouble standing so at this point I'm really worried.

Comb/waddles were bright and looked good. No impacted crop. No signs of mites. She's a bit thin but she's always been a lean chicken and doesn't seem any skinnier than normal. No signs of respiratory issues.

Gave her favorite treat and some honey water but she only ate 2 meal worms and refused to eat after that. Put her in a box near our woodburner to keep ber warm and let her dry out. Several hours later she was able to stand normal and seemed perfectly content to be hanging out. I put antifungal cream on her bum to treat for gleet. Seems like she's pulsating her cloaca a lot. Poop is a bit watery.

Added garlic to entire flocks water and put her back in the coup because I wasn't quite prepared for her indoor stay.

Yesterday: she's still hanging away from the flock and staying in the coup. No longer seems lethargic, standing fine, just not acting herself. Treated with antifungal cream. She's picking at her bum feathers and they are pretty much all gone at this point. She holds her tail down more than usual. Drinking a lot of water!!!

Today: She came out of the coup, came to the house, and sat on the porch until I brought her in. She really thinks she should be a house chicken so she seems to enjoy being brought in. Lol. Anywho, she's still not herself. Treated with antifungal cream and have her isolated inside. She's drinking but not eating despite being given her favorite goodies and crumble. Tail still down. No impacted crop. Reaching under her she feels the same as my other chickens and I no longer feel like she has an egg in there. Waddles/comb look good. Drinking a lot. Still picking at her bum feathers. Poo still watery with some solids. Still pulsing the cloaca a lot.

Attaching pics of poo, bum, and overall chicken.

I'm just wondering if something else other than gleet is going on here. What am I missing?

Other info: I typically add probiotics to their water regularly. They are fed Kalmbach pellets, sunflower seeds, meal worms, scratch, crushed oyster shells, and kitchen scraps. They have a coup, large run, and free range a few times a week. Grace is 1 of 6 hens plus 1 rooster. They have a dusting box, nesting boxes, and bedding is pine shavings. Run is mud at this point but we have a layer of hay in there to help the situation.

Thank you in advance!

Cut out everything but her pellets for a while, or cut it back to once or twice a week. What type of kalmbach? When did she last lay? She could have a soft egg.
Can you feel between her legs?

I'd give her some Calcium Citrate, 1 tablet daily.
The yellow urates could indicate something reproductive or possibly something going on with the liver.

Look for lice/mites, she's picking at herself maybe because of the poop accumulation on the feather or it could be parasites.

Vent gleet is a thick white continuous pasty yeasty discharge coming from the vent. I don't see Gleet at this time unless you were able to clean her up very well.

A hen that is lethargic may be sent over the edge when giving them a soaking, so take care in doing that.

See that she's staying hydrated and eating her normal feed. Vitamins that contain E and B1 may also be helpful for a few days.

Do re-check to make sure her crop is emptying overnight.

Good info. Thank you so much. I've been watching for lice/mites and have not seen any indication. She is still not eating. Only drinking water. I will continue to watch her closely and take your advice. Thanks again.

She's on kalmbach layer pellets. Not sure when she last laid and will be down to check on her again when my little one naps. Not sure when she last laid because she wasn't totally isolated until yesterday.
