Chick hatched this morning. Had red sac that was probably 1/2 inch, I had a feeling he wasn’t going to make it but I gave him some time and put him in a little container to keep it clean and give him some time. He climbed out and as I continued to watch him I realized that it had grown. He has been culled bc he wasn’t doing well but I am here to see if anyone knows what it was so I can learn for the future. Is there anything else I could have done?

In an incubator! He was the 11th chick to hatch and was a couple days late.
It is possible to have prevented something like this with having correct temperature and steady correct humidity.

Get another thermometer to calibrate and it a humidity gauge to salt test before you set eggs again.

What do you think the humidity level was?

We have struggled the entire time with the humidity. I didn’t love our incubator, if we do it again we plan to get a different one.

we tried to keep it between 65-75 the best we could but certainly were some drops in humidity. We have some left that looked like they were going to hatch but are on day 23 and showed no signs of pipping or anything. Should we check them again? Someone mentioned safety holes but I don’t want to mess anything up! This guy has me worried about the rest.

That high of humidity might be part of the problem. That's too high.
