Chicken. With tail down hardly walking

Thank you. Any suggestions for administering grit by hand?
Hmm that’s tough. Mine have always taken grit as needed. Is she not eating any? You could mix a bit into her food. But not too much, it is generally just recommended to let them eat as they need. Did the vet figure a crop or gizzard issue?

Inner ear or vitamin deficiency. So it sounds like wry neck. So I have to hand feed her and give her water in a dropper until she can eat on her own. She can't eat out of a dish right now.

She passed while I was working. Would not eat or drink this morning. She was my fav.

I’m so very sorry. Sometimes they keep what is wrong hidden so well. It always seems to be the favorite, too. You did a lot for her, know that. I hope you are able to find some comfort in pictures and memories of her.

She likely had something internally going on that was hidden well. If you want to, you could keep her body refrigerated and send her for an autopsy.

Thank you. Who knew almost 5 years ago I would fall in love with 6 of them. 6 more almost 4 years ago. 5 remain now. 3 older and 2 younger.

I'll bury her where she started off in the run of her old coop.

She seemed to have some food in her crop periodically in the mornings for a month or so. ALWAYS thirsty since the summer. Even eating a lot of snow recently. Comb not as bright as it used to be for a good year. I think she was probably frequently dehydrated for some reason. Even though the vet said her organs seemed fine. There was protein loss in her legs and breast. 😴
