Chicken won't come out of coop

I'd have to ask my husband, he deals with all that stuff. Is that treatable? And would that make her really sleepy?

So I've just gone to put a cotton bud (or Qtip) soaked in water into her mouth and out came almost like a phlegmy saliva with what looked like blood streaks. Is this gape worm? I'm in the UK and my local pet store is Pets at Home, which isn't the greatest. Does this sound like gape worm, and if so, does anyone know what I should buy for her? I just asked my husband and he said she hasn't been wormed for quite a while. There's also a funny smell coming from her. I can't pinpoint what the smell is. Almost like a stale fishy kind of smell. I don't know, that's the only way I can describe it. My living room smelt so bad when she was in here earlier.

Now I've googled this, I'm wondering if it's respiratory disease or aviation flu?

Don't put it in her mouth just against the side of her beak.
Almost impossible to say what is ailing her without lab testing.
Giving her meds based on guesses could help or make things worse.
How does her crop feel?

I just managed to get an appointment at the vets, as there is one vet there that specialises in birds, and luckily she had an appointment. As soon as we walked in, she said that she didn't think she had long left. She felt around her body and said she could feel a lump, which she thought was a tumour, so we had to have her put down.

I'm sorry Susan. It sounds like you gave her a good life & in the end, you did the right thing to let her go peacefully.

Bummer, so sorry. I suspected she might be near the end. At least you found an avian vet, many of us wish for that.
