Chicken wont follow the flock?

Hello everyone, I was wondering why my Black australorp chick isn't following the flock. She always stays away and does her own things. She eats and sleeps with them but anytime else she is normally doing her own thing. Also when I come out to give them treats she stays where she is, when all the others rush to my feet. And I know she is not scared of me because when I feed her away from the others she eats happily, and she is very nice and gentle. ALL the chicks are 8 weeks old and she has a brother that is the same breed. So I dont think its because she is scared. And just in case anyone needs to know the rest of the flock is 2 araucanas, 2 BR, and chicks i dont know the breed. And (as I mentioned) another australorp. Is this normal?

Me too, I have six 7 months old hens: 3 brown, 2 whites and 1 black. The black one always seems to be doing her own thing. While the others are in the front of my house free ranging, she'll just stay around the coop . She's not the lowest in the pecking order and she gets along just fine with them. I guess some chickens are just less social.

I have Hens like that...They like doing their own thing...My one Pullet I raised from my Broody Hen just walks off and happily does her own thing..Independant and happy...

I too used to have an adventurous chicken. Nothing to worry about unless you see the rest of the flock is really picking on her or something.

I know this is really off topic, but, being form New Zealand, have you ever seen a Kiwi bird?

Yes. But you don’t get to see them in the wild because they live in forests and are normally in protected areas, but you can see them in zoos and across the country there are also various kiwi houses (Mini kiwi zoos) where kiwis live.

Thinking it's "normal" ... I've got 4 BOs, one is usually off by herself yet they all get along & sleep together. I've also noticed 'Birds of a feather flock together" ... Once I had 3 Wyandottes & 1 EE, the EE was always alone when the 3 stuck together. Another time I had 2 RIR & 2 EE, the RIR stuck together as did the EEs. I maybe wrong but now I have even number of birds & at least 2 of a kind.

I have 2 black australorps and she is still anti social. My other australorp hangs out with the other chicks all the time and follows the group.
