I started training mine at around a week old with little tiny roosts I made by sticking a smooth stick between two peat pots. As they got bigger I moved it up a little higher each week and with bigger stick till it was a 2x4 between two saw horses. By the time they were out in the big coop/run they went right for the roosts at night no problems or training needed.
