BTW..what's a tortillian(SP?!)?

From wikipedia:

"A tortillon (

/tɔrˈtiːjɒn/
; or blending stump) is a cylindrical drawing tool, tapered at the ends and usually made of rolled paper, used by artists to smudge or blend marks made with charcoal, Conté crayon, pencil or other drawing media.

A blending stump is similar to a tortillon but is longer, more tightly wrapped, and pointed at both ends. Tortillons produce slightly different textures than stumps when blending, and they also are hollow, as opposed to stumps being solid.
Cleaning of tortillons and stumps usually involves removing the used outer layer of paper by scraping or rubbing the implement on an abrasive surface, such as sandpaper, carpet, pink rubber erasers, or an emery board."

I've probably been using the wrong name for it (Seeing that wikipedia says a blending stump and a tortillion are different) but they are basically the same. Oh, and they look something like this:

I have in the past. His book helped me polish off some of my skills.

I didn't copy his book though, by doing the circle thingy if that's what you're wondering.

A lot of art schools and teachers start you off by doing that. I think they do anyways. I've never taken any official drawing lessons.

Absolutely!

Oh, thats where i saw the circle thingy first
