chickenlips' coop

what a great set up, I wish mine looked that good. Looks like a five star coup! You should be very proud of the job your husband did here.

This is so incredible -I've been designing my coop on paper and it looks almost exactly like this! Same dimensions and everything. Good to know that it will look great when finished.

Give your hubby an extra pat on the back for a job extremely well done!

Thank you for all of your kind comments! My DH thanks you, also! We did put barbed wire just under the surface of the dirt all the way around the bottom of the fencing, plus I'm slowly adding large rocks all the way around the inside edging of the fence. That's mainly to keep the girls from digging their dusting holes too close to the barbed wire. I did notice that something had tried to dig under the fence one time last fall, but the barbed wire stopped it from getting inside. One of my Silver Laced Wyandotte is the watchdog over the group and she goes after and pecks any dog that gets within nose length of the fence. All the other girls just stand back and watch! I also wanted to add that the hardware cloth floor, which is on a metal frame, slides in and out for cleaning and makes it easy for me to get up inside the coop for spring and fall cleaning...which I will be doing this week-end.

Holy cow chickenlips that's one great looking coop. Did you or your DH take pics along the way? If so, I'd love to add the pics and a write up on the BYC coop design section!

(btw, I edited the title of this post since then image tags didn't work)

Here are some inside pics of my first coop...right after I gave it a good spring cleaning today!

The first is a pic of the nesting boxes as seen from the outside doors.
The 2nd is a pic viewing the wall opposite the nesting boxes as seen looking from the outside in. A roost goes across the full 4 ft. width.
The 3rd is a pic of the hanging feeder and waterer and to the left is another roost, also 4 feet wide, which is in front of the 3 nesting boxes. You can also see the hardware cloth flooring with reinforcement support bands. The flooring slides out for easy access inside the coop for cleaning. Also visible is the chicken door in the background.
The 4th is a pic of the front of the coop which opens with double glass doors.

The order of pics is out of sync with the explainations, but hopefully you can figure them out! Such drama!!!
