chickens don't see well at night, talk to them like you do during the day so they know its you.

My 11 pullets and two roosters are 12 weeks old and until yesterday, they were roosting either on the roosting poles inside the main coop or on a 2x4 near the top of the open part of the coop. However, last night they were all crowded together on a shelf and then again tonight. There are raccoon all around which is why I used 1/2 inch hardware cloth on all openings. All the doors close with spring latches and have only 1/4 inch gaps. I even checked with a flashlight tonight to see if there were any snakes or rats that had somehow gotten in, but there wasn't anything there. I guess the raccoon have been trying to get in. Good luck with that masked bandits. I used extra staples.
