When we moved to Oahu,Hawaii we noticed all the feral chickens running around our neighborhood.First I tossed them bread, then chicken feed. Now they like to steal our cats food! They adopted us by laying eggs on our porch, outdoor dryer & my gardening hat! I steal a few eggs then they lay more until they wise up and leave or sit on the eggs. We do not raise them, they gift us for feeding them. Our porch cats are afraid of them! So we feed our cats after the chickens roost in the trees now!

I see you are Ga Ga for Goslings! When I lived in California we had a huge park with a man made lake that attracted geese,seagulls,pigeons,ducks,etc.. I loved the huge geese and while feeding them I hugged one and picked it up. It pooped down my pant leg! My husband laughed and said: "Don't Goose a Goose!" That now is our joke to mean "Mind your own business!"

Oh yeah...you haven't lived until a goose has splattered all over you 😂

I just read your so so funny "Grandma letter" I could not stop laughing and I am going to send it to several friends! Thank you for posting it. I am from Hawaii so it is double funny too!! A "Shaka"(Thumb & Pinkie extended) is what we wave to someone you allow to go ahead of you or stop traffic to let someone cross the road.

Hello and welcome to active posting on BYC! :frow Nice to meet you.
I read from another new member in Hawaii that the feral chicken population are often the subject of torment by neighborhood kids. I hope that is not the case in your area.
