Chickens and ducks together?

Can i put ducks with chickens in the same enclosure? If the answer is no, i'd like to know why. Just new at this and want to know the science behind the answer, thanks.

When I was growing up, we had ducks, chickens and geese all together.
Just make sure that the chickens can get out of any water they might fall in that you have for the ducks.
Like rocks or something for them to climb up on.

I have mine together. What I have done is had to experiment with the water as the ducks are MESSY when water is added. I have two big spaces in the barn one in which they sleep and in the other I have dedicated a corner for water and then they also have water in their run outside.

I have also given them a few bowls to eat from so that everyone should be able to get at the food. It is working so far.

I felt it would be ok but i wanted to ask. I grew up on a farm and left it 30 years ago and my C.R.S. is getting pretty bad. Thanks to all for the reminder.
