Hello all! i’m new, i joined because i recently put my chicken and duck eggs in to the incubator and ran into some problems.. i have hatched before but not with this type of incubator. i have a little giant still air incubator, i have about 35 eggs in there (holds 46) the eggs near the edges aren’t as warm as the ones near the middle, they are on day 3 and i’m not sure what to do from here. I noticed when i turned them on the second day that all of the eggs aren’t warm to touch, the ones around the edges feel more cool. temp is between 99.5 - 100.5 and my humidity is at 50% could anyone help? Not sure what to do.

Welcome! :yesss: We are glad you joined our flock!
Jump right in and make yourself at home.
You should rotate the eggs daily.
Move the eggs near the middle to the outside and the eggs on the outside into the middle.
Do you have calibrated thermometers inside this bator?
Still air should have temps near 102 at the top of the egg.
Set thermometers on top of the egg....like this:

i have been rotating them but i wasn’t sure if the eggs would still be good from changing temperatures, thank you! i just have the one thermometer that came with the bator.

Don't trust it.
Go buy another thermometer and buy a humidity gauge and calibrate them both.

If the temps aren't steady yes if can affect the eggs.

I would lower your humidity down to closer to 30%.
I think 50% is just too high and it is going to cause more problems down the road.

Will do! Do you think cooler temperatures near the edges will still allow them to hatch? i’ve been rotating them.

Are you able to candle them and keep an eye on development?
There are no definite in hatching...so I can't say for sure that yes the will or no they won't hatch based on the the cooler temps.
I think it is a guessing game.
You won't really know unless you try it.

I think you would have a better chance hatching more eggs if the eggs were at a steady even temperature.
